AS POLICE INTERROGATE AJERO: NLC HOLDS PRAYER PROTEST IN EBONYI

The Nigeria Labour Congress has held a protest prayer at the Headquarters of the Nigeria Police, Abakaliki for divine intervention in the allegation of terrorism financing leveled on its National President, Comrade Joe Ajero.

Members of the Congress and their leadership led by Ebonyi State NLC Chairman, Professor Ogugua Egwu marched from Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium to the gate of the Police Headquarters where they embarked on prayers conducted by the National Chairperson, Nigeria Civil Service Union, Mrs. Ngozi Orji.

Professor Egwu described the allegation as an intimidation by the Police and called for unconditional freedom to Comrade Ajaero.

He maintained that the allegation was aimed at making the Labour movement in Nigeria to shy away from its responsibilities of demanding for a better welfare package for the workers and enjoined the Police to ensure that the National President was cleared of the allegations.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, Mr Dennis Anyai said the Leadership of the Nigeria Police would ensure that proper investigations were conducted with a view to ascertaining the veracity of the allegations..

He thanked NLC members in Ebonyi State for conducting themselves peacefully as they marched to register their grievances.
