SHOW OF FORCE: NSCDC DISPLAYS READINESS FOR NATIONAL PROTEST IN ANAMBRA

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Anambra State has led its officers and men in a show of force in and around the state.

The show of force started at the State Command headquarters in Awka and covered key routes, including Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Ziks Avenue, Regina Caeli Junction, Kwata Junction, New Parts Nkpor, Nkpor- Junction, Borromeo roundabout, Awka road, DMGS roundabout, Upper New Market road, Oguta road, ending at Head Bridge, showcasing a strong security presence across the state.

The Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr. Olatunde Maku, had declared that the current display of force, which would be on-going until August 12, would serve as a testament to the agency’s readiness and dedication to ensuring the round-the-clock security of critical National Assets and infrastructure.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Mr. Edwin Okadigbo, said Mr. Maku explained that the proactive measure sought to preempt and mitigate any potential incidents of vandalism, breaches of peace, and lawlessness that might occur in conjunction with the planned nationwide protest.

The statement pointed out that, Mr. Maku cautioned youths not to allow themselves to be used to unleash terror on law- abiding citizens and destroy critical assets and other infrastructure provided by the government.

The statement said Mr. Maku cautioned officers and men deployed ahead of the protest against unprofessional conduct, stressing that the Command would not hesitate in dealing with anyone involved in unprofessional acts.
