HELP GOVT FIGHT CULTISM, INCESSANT STRIKE: GOV UZODIMMA TELLS NEKEDE POLY GOVERNING BOARD

Imo State Governor, Senetor Hope Uzodimma, has advised members of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and turn around the fortunes of the institution in their care.

He made the remarks in his office when he received the 13 member team of the governing council led by the Chairman of the Board, Chief Henry Ikoh, who paid him a courtesy visit.

Governor Uzodimma congratulated the members over their appointment and urged them to be part of the efforts of the government in fighting poverty, hunger, unemployment, cultism, incessant strike and other ills bedevilling tertiary institutions.

Governor Uzodimma reminded them of the need to work in synergy with the management, students and host community of the school.

He appealed them to make collective interest their watch word.

“We think that despite the kinetic approach of the government and we can begin to also reduce the case of spread by ensuring that cultism in our institutions are reduced and students are properly guided and directed before they are brought to the society to begin to do their business,” the Governor advised.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board, Chief Henry Ikoh, said their desire was to take the institution to an enviable position, promised that they would work towards ensuring that the students were properly guided in their chosen disciplines before graduation.

“We came here for your blessing we came to solicit for your support.

“We came here for synergy that assure His Excellency that we, the members of this board, are ready to work with the state government to draw our strength based on what you have been doing in this great country.

“We believe if we work with you, synergize with you, you would be able able to help us the much talk about dividends of democracy using the polytechnic as a call,” the board charman said.
