RICE FARMERS IN ENUGU STATE ASSURED OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
Enugu State Government has assured rice farmers in the State of early distribution of all the necessary inputs to ensure bumper harvest of the crop.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Mike Eneh, stated this during a disbursement capacity building programme for farmers under FADAMA Three Additional Financing in Enugu. Mr. Eneh stressed the need for rice farmers to be guided by already established procedures and rules in rice cultivation to avoid unnecessary loss of yield. He reiterated the readiness of the State Government to meeting its statutory obligations and advised the farmers to take rice cultivation as a business.
The State Coordinator FADMA Three, Mr. Ikechukwu Ogboke, noted that all challenges associated with late distribution of inputs in the past have been addressed. He assured the farmers of better days ahead while urging them to adhere to all the procedures in rice farming to achieve expected objectives.
Also, the Chairman, Federated FADAMA Rice Farmers Association, Mr. Christian Ali expressed joy in the development, maintaining that rice farmers in the State were equal to the task. Mr. Ali commended the support of the State Government and appealed for more inputs especially in the area of machines for processing rice to meet the best standard.
