OVER ₦17M RELEASED FOR QUALITY MEDICAL SERVICES IN EBONYI STATE
Ebonyi State Government has released over seventeen million naira for the procurement of drugs to commence quality medical services in one hundred and seventy one health centres in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezuruike stated this in Abakaliki at a two day forum for Sustainable Logistics and Commodity Management System organized by stakeholders in the state’s health sector.
Represented by the Director of Public Health in the State, Dr Michael Uromi, Dr. Umezuruike explained that the State Government was working out measures to create data for drug tracking while efforts were being made to establish central medical store.
Dr. Umuzururike noted that the administration of Governor Dave Umahi was desirous of ensuring that the thirteen General Hospitals in the state were repositioned with effective human resource management to avoid the mistakes of the past.
One of the stakeholders, Mr. Ezeagu Nwiboko had while presenting some of the challenges facing the sector called for adequate funding for primary health care system ahead of the withdrawal of donor funding.
Mr. Nwiboko also called for the employment of pharmacist technicians in the one hundred and seventy one wards in the state to be incharge of drugs to be supplied to the health centres.
