NATIONAL IDENTITY MANAGEMENT COMMISSION EXPRESSES WORRY OVER LOW TURN OUT OF PEOPLE IN THE ON-GOING REGISTRATION
The State Co-ordinator, National Identity Management Commission,NIMC, Enugu State, Mrs. Chizoba Ogboko has called on Nigerians to come out en mass to participate in the ongoing National identity registration. Mrs. Ogboko who made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria, Enugu expressed concern that people were not turning out as was expected for the important exercise.
She explained that the exercise was on-going and involved every Nigerian, including adults and children. Mrs. Ogboko said the National Identity Registration exercise which started in 2012 had captured over fifteen million Nigerians. She appealed to those who were yet to get their permanent identity cards to exercise patience, as they would be made available soon
Speaking on the challenges facing the registration, the State Coordinator called on the state government and media organizations to partner the Commission for effective service delivery. Some members of staff of Radio Nigeria, Enugu who came out in their numbers at Sam Nwaneri Event Centre, FRCN Enugu National Station expressed their joy and commended the commission and management of Radio Nigeria for the opportunity provided them to get registered.
Members of the public were encouraged to visit the offices of the NIMC nearest to them, including the State Office at PRODA junction Emene, Eighty two Division Nigeria Army, Enugu, Government House Clinic, PPSMB opposite Shoprite, Enugu as well as some local government councils.
