GOODS WORTH OVER ₦1.7 BILLION SEIZED … CUSTOMS SERVICE

custom logoThe Comptroller Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone “C” Owerri, Alhaji Bukar Amajam says the service has seized goods worth over one point seven billion naira  in the area between January and June this year.

Briefing Newsmen in Owerri, Alhaji Amajam said a total of ninety one seizures were made, while the sum of two hundred and twenty five point one million naira underpaid duty was recovered for the government within the period under review.

According to him, the goods were intercepted by the patrol unit of the service in Benin, Enugu, Onitsha, Eleme and Mfum areas of the zone.

Alhaji Amajam gave an assurance that the Nigeria Customs Service would not relent in its efforts to rid the nation of the activities of smugglers and those he referred to as economic saboteurs.

Alhaji Amajam advised those wishing to venture into importation and exportation of goods to familiarize themselves with the relevant laws and regulations to avoid regrets.
