FRSC IN IMO STATE CONFIRMS 6 DEATHS IN AUTO CRASH

frsc logoSix persons were injured in four major road crashes recorded in Imo state during the Easter festivities. The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Imo State Command, Mr. Ibrahim Abubakar stated this during an interview with Radio Nigeria in Owerri.

He attributed the crashes to over speeding, tyre burst and recklessness of some motorists. Mr. Abubakar said forty three vehicles were impounded and seventy three persons arrested by the Command for allegedly committing various traffic offences during the period.

Mr. Abubakar attributed the reduction in crashes to the introduction of Speed Limiting Device and appealed to commercial vehicle operators to take advantage of the two months grace given by the Corps to install the device. The Sector Commander urged motorists to see the FRSC as partner in progress and report any act of indiscipline involving his officials to relevant authorities for appropriate sanction. Some residents of the State who spoke with Radio Nigeria commended security agencies in the state for ensuring a crime – free Easter celebration.

However, efforts to get the views of the State Police Command were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said he was indisposed.
