FG CALLS FOR PATIENCE AS GOVT BATTLES TO REVAMP THE ECONOMY

SSGThe Federal government says measures are being taken to reposition the nation’s economy and accelerate human capital development.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Babachir Lawal stated this at a public forum organized at the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area.

He said the current economic challenges witnessed in the country required patience, noting that government was paying more attention to industrialization and manufacturing sectors.

The Secretary to the Government of Federation explained that government had invested massively on agriculture to ensure food security and diversify the economy.

Mr. Lawal said corrupt attitude of past leaders was responsible for the bad state of the nation’s economy but gave an assurance that the period of recession would soon be over.

He appealed to Nigerians to embrace the Whistle Blowing Policy of the Federation by reporting crimes pointing out that billions of naira looted by some individuals had been discovered through the policy.

The Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, urged youths in the country to venture into agriculture instead of waiting for non-existent white collar jobs.

He called on Nigerians to pray for President Muhammadu whom he said was determined to build a solid foundation for the nation to thrive.
