ENUGU STATE GOVT. VOWS TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM POLIO

Enugu State Government has expressed satisfaction with the level of co-operation by public and private schools as well as parents in the just concluded oral polio vaccination.

The Executive Secretary, Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Hillary Agbo, announced this while commending on the progress of the exercise in the State.

Dr. Agbo reiterated the commitment of the government to ensure that every child was protected from polio and other preventable child-killer diseases.

While urging parents and caregivers to ensure their children and wards between the ages of zero and five years were immunized at every opportunity, Dr. Agbo explained that the exercise would strengthen the children’s immunity against diseases in the future.

In an interview, the health officer covering GRA axis of the State, Mrs. Stella Agu, said over 1,000 children had been vaccinated within the area.

A parent, Mr. Onwumere Udenwonye, while speaking on the importance of the immunization said no parent would be happy to see their child disabled as a result of preventable diseases.

He commended the government for commitment towards eradicating polio and stemming the tide of childhood killer diseases.
