COMMERCIAL BANKS WANTS CBN TO ADDRESS ATM TECHNICAL HITCHES

Commercial Banks in Enugu metropolis want the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to address the technical hitches being experienced at the Automated Teller Machine, ATM especially during Public holidays.

They made this known in Enugu while speaking with Radio Nigeria. They noted that poor network and non availability of funds in machines contributed to long queues experienced at the ATM during the period. The respondents also appealed to the CBN to reconsider its decision to implement cashless policy pointing out that the move was capable of derailing the financial inclusion drive in the country.

They also expressed the fear that the charges would affect customers at the grassroots negatively.

Central Bank of Nigeria had in April 22 suspended indefinitely the nation-wide implementation of the policy following the massive outcry arising from review in cash handling fees.
