BUSINESSES URGE CBN TO ADDRESS HIGH INTEREST CHARGES BY BANKS ON LOAN FACILITIES.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, says it will not rest on its oars until the country attains robust economic growth and development.

The CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, stated this in a message to mark the Bank’s Special Day at the ongoing 30th Enugu International Trade fair.

The CBN, Governor was represented by the Deputy Director Corporate Communications Department, Mrs. Veronica Aqua, who maintained that the bank had sustained its various interventions in other critical sectors aimed at triggering robust economic growth and development of the country.

Mrs. Aqua indicated some of the critical sectors to include Agriculture, Power, Aviation and health.

In a remark the President, Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Mr. Emeka Udeze, commended the apex bank for its policy measures aimed at rebuilding strong business confidence and ensuring stability in the nation’s economy.

Mr. Udeze, however, expressed worry over high interest rates banks charged when giving credits facilities to businesses.

He appealed to the apex bank to intervene in the interest rates charged by banks to enable businesses to thrive after obtaining credit facilities.
