GUNMEN KILL TWO POLICEMEN IN EBONYI

Two policemen attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command have been shot dead by gunmen at Nwofe Road in the outskirt of Abakaliki metropolis.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mrs. Onome Onowakpoyeya, explained that the policemen were on patrol on the route when they were attacked by armed hoodlums using a tinted Highlander vehicle with unknown registration number.

She pointed out that while two of the operatives were fatally wounded, one was rushed to the hospital where he was receiving medical treatment.

The statement explained that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs. Augustina Ogbodo, had visited the scene and deployed a tactical team to go after the hoodlums, who escaped after the attack.
