FG URGED TO ADOPT MEASURES OF PROTECTING NIGERIANS IN OTHER COUNTRIES

Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Federal Government to rise to the challenge of protecting Nigerians in diaspora as well as ensure that their businesses and property are protected. The Lawmakers made the call during the plenary in Awka. In a motion, the member representing Njikoka One Constituency, Dr Timothy Ifedioranma expressed worry over the attack and killings of Nigerians and other nationals by South Africans in their country.

Dr Ifedioranma maintained that the xenophobic attack and the destruction of foreigners’ businesses and property by South Africans were condemnable. Contributing to the motion, the member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr Pete Ibida said, considering the critical role Nigeria played during the liberation of South Africa, their actions against Nigerians were not only regrettable but condemnable.

Mr Obinna Emenaka, representing Anambra East Constituency, said the attack had rendered over five thousand people homeless and commended the Federal Government on the actions taken so far on the matter.
