Enugu State Marks International Day Of Sports

As the world marked the international day of sports for development and peace yesterday, the Commissioner for youths and sports Enugu State Mr. Charles Ndukwe says, the ministry has mapped out policies that would enhance the growth and development of sports in the state.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria Mr. Ndukwe noted that the ministry was revisiting school sports games and would later in the year launch the 042 sports festival which according to Mr. Ndukwe will be a yearly event involving the 17 local government areas in Enugu State and will be used to harness talented youths that will represent the stat at the upcoming national sports games.

The Commissioner stated that government had started resuscitating sporting facilities existing in the state, including the games village at Awgu local government area.

Mr Charles Ndukwe who noted that sports, apart from keeping the body fit, is a business venture, urged the government to be transparent and do more for sports. Mr. Charles Ndukwe called on the relevant stakeholders to work towards the growth of sports to help bring about development and peace in the country.

Mr Ndukwe further said that people should recognize the power of sports in promoting peace and erasing cultural barriers world wide.
