SENATOR KEN NNAMANI FINALLY ABANDONS THE PDP AND FULLY JOINS THE APC

ken3A former President of the Senate, Chief Ken Nnamani wants Nigerians to respect the political choice and leanings of fellow country men and women.

Senator Nnamani made the call when he re-registered in his AmechiAwkunanwa ward one, at the commencement of the All Progressives Congress APC membership re-registration for the South-East.

The APC membership re-registration for the South East commenced Saturday and Senator Ken Nnamani was the first person to be re-registered in his AmechiAwkunanaw ward Two, Enugu South local government area of Enugu State.

Senator Nnamani told teaming APC faithful that he joined the party based on conscience after about one year of soul search and reflection on the political future of the nation.

“Am satisfied am playing according to my conscience. Many people will criticize me saying you have abandoned a party that has helped you to attain certain standards in national politics. But if you go through my statement on 6th of February 2016 that was the date I left PDP. I published it in the national daily; not for one day, not for two days, not for three days, four days in four different papers to say why am quitting and going into sabbatical to reflect on the politics of our nation. And having done that, this February 6th it will be one year I gave that public notice.I cannot remain party-less. I have to identify somewhere. You must belong to a party platform to do anything. I have decided and no person pushed me to this. It’s my personal decision.”

The former president of the Senate while calling the people of the South-East to join APC explained that nobody could effect any peaceful and meaningful change from the outside.

“I would at appropriate time tell my supporters why I have done this and why they should consider to change their positions…the south east has a role to play in our nation. We cannot distance ourselves and play from outside and be crying under the rain. No person will notice that. We have to be inside to mark a change in Nigeria peacefully and not by abuse of anybody. If we are going to ask for imbalance to be corrected, we still have to be inside.”

Senator Nnamani also cautioned APC members against abusing people from other political parties, pointing out that strategic planning was needed to win more members to the party.

“We should now learn politics of policy and strategy, not abusing any person. We start it by registration. Those of you from other wards, this is the time to start the actual electioneering, the number of people you can register in your wards, real people, not fake, with their pictures. That is where the party is because each person will defend the party at the ward level, at the polling boots. Please try and convince people, persuade them to go and register.

“The number of people that you have registered makes the sole difference. You have no reason of blocking any person who wants to register, even if you don’t like the person. Encourage that person to register. The party can only be strong as much as you have membership.”

He warned party members with cases to answer with anti-graft agencies not to front themselves so as not to give the party bad reputation.

Similarly, a former Governor of the old Anambra State and previous PDP chieftain; Senator Jim Nwobodo who re-registered in his AmechiAwkunanaw ward one called for brotherly love among APC, members, emphasizing that lack of it could brew impunity which destroyed political parties.

Senator Nwobodo said that the PDP fell because impunity, rejection of wise counsel and hijack of the party from its founders.

National Vice Chairman of APC South East, Mr. Emma Emenkwu described both senators Nnamani and Nwobodo as political colossus who he hoped would help the party to grow stronger in the zone.

An APC chieftain and Director General Voice of Nigeria, Chief OsitaOkechukwu and the Enugu State chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye commended the two statesmen for the firm belief in the party.

The Chairman of the APC de-registration committee Rev UcheIbeabuchi and member of the committee Comrade DonatusOkonnna said the exercise would last for some days.
