ROYAL FATHERS IN IMO DRUM SUPPORT FOR GOV UZODINMA

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has assured traditional rulers in the state of his readiness to conduct fresh local government election in line with existing local government laws.

The Governor stated this when traditional rulers from the twenty-seven local government areas led by the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Tulerst, Eze Samuel Ohiri, visited him in Owerri.

Governor stated that chairmen and councilors who were elected under Chief Rochas Okorocha’s administration were contrary to the local government laws as government treasury could not carry such huge wage of over six hundred councilors.

Governor Uzodinma reminded them that their role as traditional rulers could not be over emphasized, especially in the areas of maintaining peace and order in the land.

The Governor thanked them for the visit, promising that his policies as a governor would meet the yearnings and aspirations of people.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Eze Samuel Ohiri, noted that the purpose of the visit was to advise the governor to be steadfast in taking the state to greater height.

Eze Ohiri acknowledged that leadership came from God and promised the governor the support of the traditional institution.

The traditional rulers prayed for Governor Uzodinma and his Deputy, Prof Placid Njoku to succeed.
