RADIO CALLERS CANVASS DOWNWARD REVIEW OF POLITICIAL OFFICE HOLDERS’ RENUMERATION

Some concerned citizens in the South-East geo-political zone have called for support for the incoming Ninth National Assembly to enable it to review downward the remunerations of political office holders to make them less attractive.

They made the call while contributing to ‘Political Watch’ a Radio Nigeria Enugu Zonal Network Programme, which discussed the topic “Violence and Inconclusiveness of Elections in Nigeria.”

One of them, the Project Manager, Advocacy Partnership for Good Governance, Comrade Onyebuchi Igboke, attributed some political violence to struggle for political offices and quest for wealth.

Comrade Igboke said people should imbibe the culture of asking right questions and condemning wrong values.

A Supervisor of Special Duties in the Enugu State Primary School Management Board, the Venerable Chibuzo Onoh, said the church should pray for attitudinal change to make the country better.

Some of the callers attributed political violence to greed while others advocated spirit of patriotism from political office holders.
