POOR CONDITION OF FEDERAL ROADS Anambra Lawmakers Appeal to President Buhari to Rescue the State

                 
Anambra State House of Assembly has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to come to the rescue of the State by directing the Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Fashola to urgently embark on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of all the Federal roads in the area.

The Lawmakers made the appeal during a plenary in Awka.

In a motion of urgent public importance, the member representing
Njikoka One Constituency, Dr Timothy Ifedioranma, drew the attention of his colleagues to the deplorable condition of all the federal roads in the South East and the state in particular.

Describing the state as the commercial nerve center of the country, Dr Ifedioranma, said all the federal roads in the State were death traps
and in sorry condition.

Contributing to the motion, the member representing Anaocha One
Constituency, Mr Ebere Obi, was worried that most of the accidents on the roads were as a result of bad roads and lack of maintenance culture.

Also, contributing, the member representing Anambra East
Constituency, Mr Obinna Emenaka, believed that, if all the federal roads in the State could be reconstructed, they would go a long way in stimulating the economic activities in the area.

Mr Ifeanyi Chiekwu, representing Idemili North Constituency, said the bad spots on the roads were being used by the criminals to attack innocent people of the State.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor, appealed to relevant bodies to urgently intervene to avoid continuous loss of lives and property.
