POLICE COMMISSIONER ASSURES NUTRALITY OF SECURITY AGENCIES IN 2019 ELECTIONS IN ENUGU STATE

The Commissioner of Police Enugu State Command, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed, says adequate measures have been taken to ensure peaceful, free, and fair elections in the state.

Mr. Mohammed made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria on the preparedness of the Nigerian Police Force to provide adequate security of lives and property in the state during the upcoming general election.

He noted that the command  had already convened various security meetings with the Nigerian Army, Air force, DSS and other sister agencies as well as other relevant stakeholders involved in the election process

Mr. Danmallam Mohammed said that part of the preparations was the signing of peace accord among political parties to eschew violence and ballot paper snatching.

On allegations making the rounds that the Nigerian Police would be used as instrument of election rigging, the commissioner debunked it stressing that the Nigerian Police Force had the constitutional mandate to ensure a peaceful election.

The Police Commissioner said that a meeting would be convened by the Force involving media practitioners and election observers to ensure their full cooperation during the polls.
