PDP WINS MORE SEATS IN THE SUPPLEMENTARY IMO STATE CONSTITUENCY ELECTION

 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has won four out of the five state constituencies where INEC conducted supplementary election Saturday, March 23 State House of Assembly election in the state.

A popular comedian, Chief Uche Ogbuagu, of the PDP, was declared winner of Ikeduru state constituency by the Returning Officer, Dr. Felix Eke, having polled 18,791 (eighteen thousand seven hundred and ninety one) votes to defeat Mr. Ifeanyi Opara of the APC, who came a distant second, with 4,042 (four thousand and forty two) votes.

The PDP also won Orlu, Ngor Okpala, and Oguta state constituencies while candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Mrs. Ngozi Obiefule, was re-elected to represent Isu in the Imo state legislature.

With elections concluded in the 27 seat parliament, The PDP won the majority with 13 seats, AA has 8 while APGA got 6 seats.

Our Correspondent, who monitored the supplementary election in some parts of the state, reports that though the exercise was relatively peaceful, it witnessed low turnout of voters.
