OHANEZE NDIGBO INSISTS ON SUPPORT FOR ATIKU-OBI PRESIDENTIAL TICKET
The Igbo Socio-cultural Organization, Ohanenze Ndigbo, says it is committed to supporting political parties that have restructuring as part of their manifestoes in next month’s Presidential election.
The President General Chief Nnia Nwodo stated this in a Radio Nigeria Enugu Zonal Programme, “Political Watch.”
Chief Nwodo explained that restructuring would encourage regional autonomy, which would propel economic competitions among the regions.
He maintained that Ohaneze endorsed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi ticket because they had an avowed commitment to restructuring the federation.
Chief Nwodo pointed out that the organization had a moral obligation to advise Ndigbo on the best path to follow.
The Enugu State Chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, said that it was obvious that the present federal structure was not favorable.
The Deputy National Treasurer of the group, Chief Eric Ebe, condemned an allegation that Ohaneze collected bribe to endorse the PDP candidate and described it as unfortunate.
Some callers in the programme commended Ohaneze for standing above board by protecting the interest of Igbos while others said that the organization should have acted with caution.
