NEW COMMISSIONER FOR COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY APPOINTED IN EBONYI STATE

Ebonyi State Government has appointed Mrs Ugo Nnachi as the new Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the state.

Mrs Ugo Nnachi until her new position was the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Umahi on Grants and Donor Agencies.

Her appointment followed the resignation of the Former Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Dr. Denis Ekumankama to pursue his political career.

At the swearing-in of the new Commissioner at Government House Abakaliki, Governor David Umahi charged her to ensure that the State Pipe Production Company Ezzamgbo resumes production immediately.

Governor Umahi said he elevated Mrs Nnachi because of her performance as his Senior Special Assistant and urged her to reposition the Ministry for economic development of the State.

Governor Umahi also appointed his Senior Special Assistant on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, Mr. Joseph Obasi to temporally head the Ministry of Economic Empowerment.

Though he did not give reasons for the appointment but journalists in the State gathered that the former Commissioner, Mr Uchanne Orji was allegedly whisked away by people suspected to be security agents at Government House.

When asked to confirm the development while briefing journalists at the end of the State Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onwe emphasized that the issue was not discussed during the meeting.

Senator Onwe also announced that the State Government had moved a newly sworn in Commissioner, Chief Ogodo Alinome to the Ministry of Agriculture where he was sacked about five months ago.

He stated that former Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mr Ikechukwu Nwobo had been transferred to the Ministry of Special Projects created newly by the government.

Our Correspondent reports that Governor Umahi also distributed Keke Ambulances to some Primary Health Centers in the state.
