IPAC, INEC, OTHERS…IN ABIA WORK TOWARDS ENSURING PEACEFUL GENERAL ELECTION

Youths have been urged to resist any attempt by some desperate Politicians to use them to foment trouble during the forthcoming general election in the country.

The Chairman, Inter-party Advisory Council, IPAC Abia State, Reverend Augustine Ehimere stated this at a one day conference organized by IPAC in collaboration with INEC, Security agencies and Civil Society Networks in Umuahia.

He noted that the purpose of the program was to sensitize the electorate on ways to ensure peaceful and credible 2019 general election.

The IPAC State Chairman advised the people especially the electorate not to sell their votes as well as allow unscrupulous politicians to intimidate them during the elections.

In a message, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC Abia State, Dr. Joseph Iloh represented by the Head of Department ,Voter Education and Publicity in the Commission, Mr Godfrey Achibie assured the people that INEC was fully prepared to conduct  free, fair and credible elections in the State.

He urged all stakeholders and the public to join hands with INEC in making the 2019 general election a success.

One of the conveners of the program, Mrs Onyeka Udegbunam called on

Nigerians to say no to all forms of electoral violence and malpractices as the general elections in the country drew nearer.

The theme of the conference is “Towardsevolving a sustainable and responsible leadership culture in Abia State”.
