INSECURITY: ENUGU STATE GOVT TO ENGAGE 1,700 FOREST GUARDS

The Enugu State Government say about one thousand seven hundred forest guards will be engaged and equipped within one month to tackle the security challenges in the state.

This formed part of the communiqué presented to journalists after a meeting between the state government, the vigilance and neighbourhood watch group at the government house Enugu.

The meeting, which was held to review the security situation in the state and chart a way forward, resolved to overhaul the vigilance and neighbourhood watch group in the state.

According to the statement, there will be an immediate review of the Enugu State Neighbourhood Watch Law 2006, with an executive bill on anti kidnapping to be sent to the state house of assembly.

The meeting had in attendance the executives of the Neighbourhood watch association of the seventeen Local Government Areas and the Council Chairmen.
