INEC fixes Imo, Kogi re-run for July 23
Following a National Stakeholders’ Forum on the conclusion of the suspended re-run elections in Rivers, Kogi, Imo and Kano states yesterday at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Abuja, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the conduct of the outstanding re-run elections in Kogi and Imo states for July 23, 2016.
Similarly, the re-run elections in Rivers and Kano states will hold on July 30, 2016.
INEC arrived at dates after a series of consultations which commenced with major stakeholders at the affected states in the court -ordered elections.
The commission met yesterday with the involved candidates and their political parties before arriving at the dates.
In a statement issued by INEC yesterday in Abuja, the commission said that it reached an agreement with the political parties and the candidates on the dates and the need to hold peaceful polls.
