INEC DECLARES IMO NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT ELECTION INCONCLUSIVE

As residents of Imo State continue to await the declaration of winners for Imo East Senatorial District and that of Owerri Federal Constituency in last Saturday’s National Assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission says Imo North Senatorial District election has been declared inconclusive.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Commission in the State, Mrs. Emmanuella Opara said elections in Isiala Mbano, Ehime Mbano and Ihitte Uboma Local Government Areas were cancelled.

Similarly, elections for two House of Representatives seats in the area: Okigwe North and South were declared inconclusive.

Mrs. Opara mentioned irregularities, non-collation of ward results and disappearance of Collation officer for Ehime Mbano Local Government Area as reasons for the development.

She said a new date for supplementary elections for Imo North Senatorial District and Okigwe North and South Federal Constituency would be announced later.

The Imo State INEC Public Relations Officer explained that the Commission was still collating results of Imo East Senatorial District.

Out of three Senatorial District elections held in Imo State, only Imo West Senatorial District which returned Governor Rochas Okorocha of the APC in a controversial circumstance had been declared by INEC.
