GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES IN IMO STATE IN THE LAST ELECTION COMMEND PRESIDENT BUHARI FOR NEUTRALITY IN THE PROCESS

A forum of Governorship candidate of political parties in the just concluded elections in Imo state has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his neutrality in the conduct of elections in the state.

Addressing a news conference in Owerri, one of the members and governorship candidate of the Reform and Advancement Party Mr. Kingdom Okere said the positive disposition of the president gave room for the free and fair conduct of governorship election in the area.

The Governorship candidate of the Fresh Democratic Party Mr. Excel Ochiama commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and Security agencies for their roles in ensuring that the outcome of governorship and House of Assembly elections in Imo state reflected the will of the people.

He appealed to other candidates especially those threatening to challenge the emergence of Chief Emeka Ihedioha as governor-elect in court to sheath their sword and close ranks with him to rebuild the state.

Mr. Ochiama called on others who ran the race with Chief Ihedioha not to overheat the polity by their unguarded statements noting that statistics from the results announced by INEC indicated that the PDP candidate was duly elected.
