ENUGU ASSEMBLY PASSES BUDGET OF OVER ₦105 BILLION
The Enugu State House of Assembly has passed 2017 appropriation bill of over ₦105, 000,000.00 (one hundred and five billion Naira).
This followed adoption and consideration of report presented by the House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation Mr. Chuka Eneh representing Udi South State constituency.
The Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, presented a budget estimate of over one hundred and five billion naira on 23 December last year before the house. Since then, the house had been a beehive of activities as ministries, departments and Agencies came in to defend their budgets.
Presenting the report, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation Mr. Chuka Eneh said the committee had to go extra mile in ensuring that the State had the best budget under his watch.
Mr. Eneh explained that there challenges as a result of discrepancies in figure occasioned by inflationary rate.
He commended members and staff of the Assembly for their support and expressed the hope that the budget would address economic and infrastructure need of the people if signed into law by the Governor.
Moving the motion for the adoption and passage of the bill, the leader of House, Chief Ikechukwu Ezugwu, pointed out that the house was ready to assist the concretive in talking socio-economic challenged affecting the people of the state.
Earlier, the house had dissolved itself into a committee of whole to discuss the report. The speaker, Chief Edward Ubosi, who expressed satisfaction with the committee said that the house would continue to support the executive to address infrastructure need of the people through prompt response to bills and motion.
It was observed that ministries of Housing and Urban Development, Environment and Works had that the highest allocation.
