ENSHA RAISES ALARM OVER POSSIBLE COLLAPSE OF THE HEALTH SECTOR

The Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Health has raised an alarm over possible collapse of the health sector in the State due to what it describes as inefficiency of the State Ministry of Health.

The Chairman House Committee on Health Dr Emeka Ogbuabor raised the alarm when he and other members visited the State Ministry of Health as part of their oversight function.

Dr Ogbuabour alleged that the ministry lacked the vision of the Governor of the State in the health sector and accused it of violation of due process in procurement process.

He claimed that the ministry was driving the State health sector backward.

The Commissioner for Finance, Dr Fintan Elochi explained that some of the projects the ministry was accused of violating due process was approved by the Executive Council and others by the Governor.

The committee abruptly stopped the meeting as a result of inability of the ministry to provide Ministerial Tender Bound Aproval Minute.

It also threatened to invite the House Committee on Public Accounts to be part of the oversight.
