EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT PROCURES SECURITY VEHICLES AHEAD OF 2019 POLLS

Ebonyi State Government is to procure 70 Hilux vans for security operations in the state worth over #800 million.

Governor David Umahi announced this following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) involving the State Government and an Indigenous firm for the supply of the vehicles in Abakaliki.

Chief Umahi explained that they would be distributed to the Nigeria Police, the Army, the Department of Security Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

“These 70 units of vehicles would be able to assist the police, the DSS, the Army , the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and our own Neighbourhood Watch to increase their activities, especially as we approach the Christmas, New Year and of course Election,” the Governor said.

Governor Umahi also announced that the State Government would relocate “Spera n Deo Park” at Akanu Ibiam Junction Abakaliki to reconstruct and decongest traffic in the area.

According to Governor Umahi, “the first one to do is to make sure that there is no shop blocking the view when you are on Afikpo Road, then we put a road no longer from Afikpo road but we put it through Ogoja road axis so that we decongest traffic on that Akanu Ibiam Roundabout.”

Mean while, an Exco Committee was set up to deliver the project.
