YULETIDE: FRSC CAUTIONS MOTORISTS IN ABIA AGAINST FLOUTING SAFETY RULES
Reporter : LAWRENCE NWOKEDI
Motorists have been enjoined to always ensure that they maintain road safety rules and regulations while plying the roads during the Yuletide.
The Assistant Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zonal Commanding Officer Zone RSS Enugu, Mr. Francis Udoma, stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia, Abia State.
Mr. Udoma explained that over seventy percent of road crashes were as a result of carelessness and non compliance with driving rules and regulations by drivers.
He noted that the corps had deployed over six hundred regular and special marshals in Abia State to ensure free flow of traffic during the Christmas and the New Year celebrations.
On the need for FRSC personnel to carry arms while on duty, the Assistant Corps Marshal said that the need was long over due as most of their works were prone to hazard.
