Christians have been urged to be more steadfast in prayers to enable the country to surmount the rising security challenges facing her. The National Chairman Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Mr. Belusochukwu Enwere, gave the charge during a church service in Owerri.

He expressed regret that thousands of lives had been lost to boko haram insurgency, banditry and gunmen in the south east and called on the Federal Government to ensure that criminals did not go unpunished. Mr. Enewere commended the Federal Government for steps towards addressing poverty in the country but called for more empowerment programmes to stem the tide of unemployment among youths.

We need prayers to overcome, I know the federal government is doing a lot through CBN, NIRSAL etc but we need them to do more because the number of youths in Nigeria is many, but my message to the youths is that they need to start something, do not wait for the government alone to do everything for you,” he said.

Mr. Enwere noted that the sit-at-home order issued by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would impact negatively on the economy of the zone and appealed to youths across the country to toe the line of peace in their agitations.
