WOMEN URGED TO IMMUNIZED AGAINST THE COVID-19 VIRUS.

As the country battles third wave of the covid-19 pandemic and outbreak of cholera, in many states of the federation, women are urged to maintain hygiene and get vaccinated against covid-19. The Enugu state public health educator, Mr. Fabian Nebo gave the advice in Enugu, during sensitization of women to the on-going covid-19 vaccination and essential practices against communicable diseases, including cholera.

Mr. Nebo said that the high fatality rate from the covid-19 pandemic demands that people take the vaccination seriously. In his submissions, the Enugu State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr Anthony Aneke, explained that the sensitization was in collaboration between the agency and United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF.

Mr. Aneke said that the sensitization which took the team to all the Local government Areas of Enugu State, essentially targeted the women, mostly participating in the women’s annual August meetings. He further explained that the women were reminded of existing covid-19 protocols, as well as the need for them to get vaccinated against the virus and maintain hygiene to check the cholera outbreak. The women interviewed commended the initiators of the sensitization and pledged to carry the message to their families.
