WE WILL MAKE SURE POLICE REMAIN NUETRAL IN 2019 ELECTIONS – PCRC

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) says efforts have been intensified to ensure that Police remain neutral during next year’s general election.

The National Legal Adviser of the Committee, Dr. Godstime Okafor, stated this while interacting with journalists in Enugu.

Dr. Okafor maintained that PCRC members had received training to ensure effective monitoring of the forthcoming election across the country and assured the public that the Police would not interfere in the Polls.

He called on law abiding individuals to identify with PCRC, to assist the Police not only in information and intelligence gathering, but in the overall crime prevention.

Dr. Okafor who was recently re-elected as the National Legal Adviser of the Committee, said issuance of Identity Card to their members and amendment of constitution were some of his objectives.

Speaking on plans by the Committee to ensure the protection of Complainants, especially when dealing with influential persons, the Constitutional Lawyers said the Police must follow due process in handling cases emanating from the local division.

PCRC Legal Adviser explained recent salary increment for the Nigeria Police would spur the force to perform optimally.
