VARIOUS GOVTS URGED TO EQUIP HOSPITALS FOR IMPROVED RADIOLOGY SERVICES
Guests on Media Link have called on Government at all levels to properly equip hospitals for improved Radiology services.
They made the call while discussing the topic “Precision and Compassion: Radiographers Qualities”.
One of them, Director Diagnostic Imaging Department, POSH Hospital, New Haven Enugu, Mr Chinedu Nwodo noted that some government hospitals refer their patients to private facilities that were better equipped for x-rays.
According to him, most practitioners leave the country to work abroad because they were poorly remunerated at home.
Another guest, the immediate past Head, Department of Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Dr Sylvester Osita Ogbu explained that a good Radiog
rapher should be accurate, compassionate and timely in handling patients.
Dr Ogbu encouraged more young people to train as Radiographers because the practice was very lucrative.
Also contributing to the programme, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Radiography, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Dr Felicitas Idigo frowned at the misconceptions people had about the profession.
Callers in the programme commended the guests for educating the people more about Radiology services and the profession.
