UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK AND THE WEST AFRICAN ROAD SAFETY ORGANISATION DAY: FRSC CAUTIONS AGAINST DRINK DRIVING

Commercial and private drivers have been urged to avoid intake of alcohol and other hard substances to reduce the level of road crashes.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Enugu State, Mr. Ogbonnaya Kalu gave the advice during an Executive Walk organised by the Command  as part of activities to mark the 5th United Nations Global Road Safety Week and the West African Road Safety Organisation Day.

Mr. Kalu called on road users to make safety consciousness their watchword.

The Sector Commander, who condemned activities of sellers who block walkways with their goods at markets within Enugu metropolis, especially at Holy Ghost, Ogbete Main Market, urged the State Government to provide spaces for them inside the markets.

The Nigerian Army, the Department of State Security Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were all represented during  the walk, which commenced from the FRSC office to Park Lane Hospital.
