TWO BROTHERS IN POLICE NET FOR JEWELRY STORE ROBBERY IN AWKA

Two undergraduates of same parents are now cooling off at the Police Command in Anambra State after they were apprehended for robbing a jewelry store in Awka, the state capital.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, the suspects forcefully entered a jewelry shop at Temp Site,  Awka, tied the sales girl and covered her mouth with cello tape while threatening to stab her if she screamed.

 The  statement alleged that the two brothers thereafter carted away 33 wrist watches and 14 necklaces valued over #300,000.00 (three hundred thousand naira) as well as cash sum of 37,000.00 (thirty seven thousand naira).

It further alleged that as the suspects were escaping, the sales girl loosened the tape and raised alarm which led to their arrest after a hot chase.

Meanwhile exhibits allegedly recovered in their possession included all the items stolen and a wrap of dried leave suspected to be Canbabis Sativa following a search at their residence.

The statement noted that suspects had voluntarily confessed to the crime while investigation was  ongoing after, which they would be arraigned in court.

 The statement called on the members of public who were victims of similar robbery incidents to report to B Division, Awka to enable the police to conduct discreet investigation into the matter.
