TRICYCLISTS SURE OF HAVING A NEW PARK IN AWKA AS ANMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT MOVES TO REDUCE ACCIDENTS ON ENUGU-ONITSHA EXPRESSWAY

Anambra State Government says it has concluded plans to recover the designated park meant for tricycle operators at the popular Unizik Temporary Site Junction in Awka.

The State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Uche Okafor, made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria on efforts to decongest the ever busy junction.

According to Mr. Okafor, the State Government will soon asphalt the floor to make it more accessible for both commuters and drivers.

He noted that the designated area, which had been overtaken by petty traders, would be recovered to ensure that tricycle operators moved away from the major road where they had been causing heavy traffic congestion.

The Commissioner also warned those operating within the Regina Ceali axis of the expressway to maintain one single line instead of causing obstruction on the road while trying to load and discharge passengers.

The Commissioner commiserated with the families of tanker accident at Upper Iweka, Onitsha and admonished motorists to ensure that their vehicles were in good condition before hitting the road to avoid such loss of lives and property.
