TRAGEDY: CATHOLIC PRIEST FOUND DEAD IN HIS CAR IN ANAMBRA
Tragedy struck in Oroma Etiti, Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anamabra State when a priest was found dead inside his car. The incident, which happened on Tuesday March 24, 2020 threw the entire rural community into mourning.
The late priest, the Reverend Father Charles Okeke-Odogwu was the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Oroma Etiti, Anam. Parishioners of Holy Cross, Oroma Etiti Anam, were thrown into confusion after they searched for their parish priest and found him helpless inside his car. The priest had attended the Regional Meeting of Onitsha Archdiocese after which it was gathered that he drove to his hometown Alor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
An eye witness and parish member, Mr. Daniel Ndife Narrated to Radio Nigeria how they saw their priest inside his car. He said “we came out and saw him inside his car, his hand on the steering while his head rested on the car seat.”
Mr. Ndife further explained that they had to call a welder, who asisted them to gain asses into the car, before they could carry the priest out. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Anambra State, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, said the incident was not officially reported to the Otuocha Police Division. It was gathered that the priest had vomited on his body when he was found dead on the car steering while engine was still steaming.
