TRADERS IN TROUBLE AS EBONYI STATE GOVT REVOKS LAND SPACES AT KPIRIKPIRI MARKET

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Ebonyi State Government has revoked all land spaces and shops located at the popular kpirikpiri Market in Abakaliki.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Uchenna Orji, explained that the decision was in response to alleged illegal sale of the property by Ebonyi Local Government Officials.

The statement noted that the state government frowned at their action knowing that the market was within the state capital and as such belonged to the state government.

It directed all occupants of shops and land spaces in the area to within seven days proceed to the State Ministry of Market Development for appropriate documentation and payment.

The statement further warned that the state government would be forced to shutdown shops whose occupants failed to go for documentation within the stipulated time.

It added that the state government did not give anyone the right to sell shops and lands at kpirikpiri market.
