STREET TO STREET HAND WASH IN EGBU, IMO STATE TO FIGHT COVID-19

In order to stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the people of Egbu community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State have embarked on street to street hand washing and sanitizing.

Radio Nigeria observed that the major streets and roads linking Egbu community had buckets of running water, soaps and hand sanitizers to enable the people in the area to wash their hands before entering or leaving their houses.

While speaking to news men monitoring the restriction order by the State Government, Mr. Henry Ugochukwu who is in charge of Uhuegbu street explained that the idea was to compliment Government’s efforts to check the spread of Covid-19 to the area.

Another youth from Umuayalu Egbu, Mr. Kelechi Opara noted that Egbu Town General Assembly led by community leaders and Egbu in diaspora came together to help the people as part of preventive measures.

A resident of the area, Mr. Chikwem Ogu applauded the community leaders for the door to door sensitization.

There was massive compliance by the residents of the streets.
