The South East Governors have announced that preparations were on top gear for the burial of the late elder statesman and former Vice President, Chief Alex Ekwueme, scheduled to hold on Friday, February 2, 2018.
The Chairman of the South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi while briefing journalists on the outcome of the closed door meeting held at the Government House Enugu said that the South East Governors were very committed to the programme.
He noted that their presence at the gathering underscores the importance the governors have attached to the burial.
Governor Umahi said that the forum also reviewed its previous deliberations on the railway for the South East, gas to industrial zones and other issues raised in the recently held South East Economic Summit.
The meeting, whichwas the first by the forum in 2018, witnessed presence of the South East Governors excluding that of Imo State who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the state, Prince Eze Madumere.
