Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, says his administration is ready and determined to clean and rid Upper Iweka, Onitsha of touts and illegal structures.
Governor Soludo, who stated this when he paid an impromptu visit to Upper Iweka, noted that ridding the area of touts would help in making Onitsha a clean and liveable smart mega city.
The Governor warned motor parks administrators to adhere strictly to guidelines, pointing out that all vehicles must operate within the garages, and not on drain channels as the case had been across the state.
The Governor warned that any garage that failed to comply with the directive would be locked up.
He bemoaned the disorderliness in Onitsha, which had contributed in driving away customers and warned touts, who perpetrate criminality in the state, to stop or face the wrath of the law.
For his part, the Transition Committe Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Mr. Emeka Orji, lauded the Governor for coming to ascertain the outlook of the area and promised continued support for his administration.
Top government functionaries, including the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, accompanied the Governor on the visit.
