Traditional and religious leaders in Enugu State have expressed support to Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, in the fight against rising security challenges in the state. Speaking after an emergency security meeting with the Governor at the Government House Enugu, the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo, said the leaders would work in their capacity to restore lasting peace in the state.

He said the leaders were the second group to meet with the Governor after the recent attacks on police stations and the IPOB/security operatives clash that resulted in the death of some people in the state.

Chief Nwodo further said that all those present at the meeting reaffirmed their conviction to continue to support Governor Ugwuanyi’s efforts in ensuring that the state remained one of the safest in the country.

Chief Nwodo stated that the Governor informed them that “he has given a directive to all the Local Government Chairmen to rejig our security architecture in consultation with the traditional rulers and Presidents-General of town unions.”

On the recent security disturbances in the state, Chief Nwodo announced that the Governor promised to get to the root of the matter.

“The State Government will do everything in its powers to see that whoever was found to have not acted in conformity with the law will be adequately dealt with,” Chief Nwodo quoted the Governor.
