SCID, ABIA ATTACK: 8 HOODLUM DEAD, 2 POLICEMEN DEAD

Eight suspected hoodlums that attacked the State Criminal and Investigation Department situated on Uzuakoli road in Umuahia Abia state are said have been shoot dead by the Police.

Addressing journalists at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abia State Command, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, said that the hoodlums met their Waterloo during the attack.

He noted that the Police encountered the hoodlums in a gun battle and succeeded in killing eight of the suspects while others escaped with bullet wounds.

Mr. Ogbonna expressed regret that it was during the exchange of fire that two of its officers paid the supreme sacrifice.

Mr. Ogbonna said that the hoodlums set the building ablaze and freed suspects in the cell.

According to the PPRO, no arms were carted away during the attack.
