REVIVE WATER PLANTS TO ADDRESS WATER SCARCITY – DR OPOKE BEGS EBONYI GOVT

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

A former General Manager, Ebonyi State Rural Water Suply and Sanitation Agency (EBRUWASA), Dr. Sunday Opoke, has attributed the perennial water scarcity in the area to poor funding by the government.

In an interview with journalists in Abakaliki, Dr. Opoke emphasised that the state government failed to fund the agency to embark on water development in the last seven years, thereby compounding the problem of water scarcity in the area.

He said Governor Martin Elechi’s administration constructed the Oferekpe water scheme and other water projects and called for the plants to be reactivated to provide residents with their water needs.

Dr. Opoke said Ebonyi State needs a Governor that would deploy technologically driven security strategy, noting that industrialization, wealth creation and technological transfer, would make the state the best economy in the country.
