RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS, COORDINATOR OPERATION RESTORE PEACE ADMONISHES SPECIAL FORCES

The Coordinator, Operation Restore Peace in the South East, Mr. Remi Adeoye, says Police Special Forces deployed to the zone in the wake of attacks have achieved the objective of their mission and helped to avert another civil war in Nigeria.

Addressing the contingent at Police Headquarters Abakaliki, Mr. Adeoye, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police incharged of Mobile Force, observed that peace had gradually returned to the zone and commended the personnel for their sacrifice.

He charged them to strictly follow the orders of the Inspector General of Police to defend themselves but cautioned them to respect the fundamental human rights of the people of South East zone.

Mr. Adeoye assured the people of the zone that police would discreetly investigate those arrested in connection with the attacks and release those who would be found to be innocent.

Mr. Adeoye commended the government and people of the zone for their support, which aided the arrest of the suspects and appealed to them to help de-radicalize the youths who had been brainwashed to wage war against the police.
