RECONSTRUCTION OF ROADS IN PROGRESS IN IMO

Imo State Government has commenced the reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads across the State to ease movement in the area.

The State Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha while performing the ceremony said the measure would boost economic activities and discourage rural urban migration.

Chief Ihedioha explained that the State Government had taken necessary steps in the redesign and procurement processes with the State Ministry of Works to provide durable roads.

The Governor explained that his administration recently undertook massive construction of rural roads with support from the world bank’s rural access and mobility project RAMP 2 across twenty-seven Local Government Areas of the State to address the challenge of road infrastructure.

The Imo State commissioner for Works, Chief Ben Ekwueme said the ministry would ensure that the projects were executed according to specifications as directed by the Governor.

Chief Ekwueme noted that the construction of control post road through world bank to Umuguma in Owerri would take up to eighteen months before completion.

The roads to be constructed include Naze Federal Polytechnic through Ihiagwa, FUTO, Obinze and link up to Portharcourt road. Ahiara Okpala road, Imo State Teaching Hospital road, Umuowa Orlu road, MCC Toronto road

Others are Mgbidi Oguta road, Avutu road, Douglas through Emmanuel College road Assumpta to Portharcout road, Okigwe road to IMSU round about and Concord road.

The Governor also performed ground breaking ceremony for the reconstruction of four Technical colleges in the State noting that the colleges would be equipped to raise quality of learning
