POOR STATE OF ENUGU-ONITSHA ROAD AND GRIDLOCK SOURCE OF WORRY TO ROAD USERS

Drivers and commuters on the Enugu-Onitsha road have lamented the perennial gridlock being experienced on the road.
This followed long queue of vehicles around Amansea stretching to Unizik Junction, thereby delaying passengers and motorists for hours.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, some of the drivers said it had become an everyday occurrence, attributing it to the bad state of Enugu Onitsha Expressway. Also trapped in the traffic jam were two Central Bank of Nigeria Bullion Vans and their security escorts.
A cross section of passengers who bared their minds on the issue said they had resigned to fate but to the Federal government to urgently complete the on-going reconstruction of the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway to reduce the difficulties experienced by motorists daily.

Many of the drivers diverted to the almost collapsed old Enugu Onitsha express way, resulting to breakdown of many vehicles and trucks that could not cope with the bad condition of the road.
